Caribbean Islands Update – October 10, 2017

Many of our clients have been asking what their Caribbean Island options are for the upcoming winter season.  Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated quite a few islands however there are still plenty of options.  Following is an update from our Preferred Hotels and Resorts on closures, re-openings, and those unaffected.

If an island getaway is one of your New Years Resolutions, now is the time to start planning.  Even though there are plenty of options, availability is much more limited.  Please contact us today to get the planning process started!

Anguilla

  • Malliouhana – Currently closed. Expects to re-open after April of 2018
  • Cuisinart – closed. Expects to re-open November of 2018
  • The Reef – closed. Expects to re-open November of 2018
  • Cap Juluca – closed for extensive (Planned) renovations. Expects to re-open 15NOV18
  • Zemi Beach House – currently closed. Expects to re-open after the New Year. No firm re-opening date as of now.

Antigua

  • Carlisle Bay, Curtain Bluff, Hermitage Bay, Jumby Bay – all Ok and open for business

Aruba

  • Island unaffected by the hurricanes. Hyatt Regency and Ritz-Carlton hotels both open and all OK.

Bahamas

  • The Cove, The Reef, One and Only Ocean Club, The Cove Eleuthera – all open and OK.

Barbados

  • Island unaffected by recent hurricanes. Fairmont Royal Pavilion and Sandy Lane open and all OK.

Bermuda

  • Island unaffected by recent hurricanes. Elbow Beach, Hamilton Princess, Rosewood Tucker’s Point, Cambridge Beaches, Fairmont Southampton, all open and all OK.

British Virgin Islands

  • Peter Island: closed until further notice. Not expected to reopen until fall 2018
  • Rosewood Little Dix Bay. Currently closed for renovations. Not expected to re-open before summer/fall of 2018

Cayman Islands/Grand Cayman

  • Island unaffected by recent hurricanes. Ritz Carlton and Seafire resort both open, all OK.

Dominican Republic

  • Amanera: Currently closed. Re-opens 01NOV17
  • Tortuga Bay: currently closed for renovations. Re-opens 01NOV17
  • Casa de Campo, Eden Roc at Cap Cana, Paradisus Palma Real, Paradisus Punta Cana, Westin Punta Cana, Zoetry Agua Punta Cana – all Open and OK

Grenada:

  • Island unaffected by recent hurricanes. Spice Island (new SIG hotel partner) open and all OK

Jamaica

  • Island unaffected by hurricanes. Half Moon, Round Hill, Jamaica Inn, all open and OK

Puerto Rico and Vieques

  • Dorado Beach, Ritz Carlton Reserve – currently closed. No reopening date at this time.
  • Condado Venderbilt – currently closed. Expects to re-open 01NOV17
  • El Conquistador and Las Casitas Village at El Conquistador – Both currently closed, expected to re-open in January of 2018
  • St Regis Bahia Beach – currently closed. Hotel expects to re-open 01NOV17
  • Ritz Carlton San Juan – currently closed, no re-opening date at this time
  • W Retreat in Vieques – currently closed, Not expected to re-open until 01JAN19
  • El San Juan – currently closed. Expects to re-open 01NOV17
  • Intercontinental San Juan – currently closed. Expects to re-open 01NOV17

St Barths

  • Cheval Blanc St Barths Isle de France: currently closed. Not expected to re-open until after the New Year. No firm reopening date as of now.
  • Eden Rock St Barths: currently closed. Currently closed. Expects to reopen summer/fall of 2018
  • Hotel Christopher: currently closed. Expects to re-open in 2018 – no firm date at this time
  • Le Barthelemy: currently closed. Expects to re-open in 2018 – no firm date at this time.
  • Le Guanahani: currently closed. Expects to re-open 01JUL18.

St Kitts

  • Island unaffected by the hurricanes. Park Hyatt St Kitts (new SIG partner hotel) will open as planned 20NOV17

St Lucia

  • Island unaffected by recent hurricanes. Cap Maison, Landings St Lucia, Jade Mountain, Ladera Resort, Sugar Beach / Viceroy Resort – all OK and open for business

St Martin/St. Maarten

  • Belmond La Samanna currently closed. Hotel expects to re-open April of 2018

Turks and Caicos, B.W.I.

  • Amanyara: currently closed. Expects to re-open 15DEC17
  • Como Parrot Cay: currently closed. Expects to re-open 15DEC17
  • Gansevoort Turks and Caicos, Grace Bay Club, The Palms, West Bay Club, The Shore Club – all Ok and open for business

US Virgin Islands

  • Caneel Bay: currently closed. Hotel expects to re-open 01NOV18
  • Ritz Carlton St Thomas: currently closed. Hotel expects to re-open 01OCT18
